Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched search operations across various parts of Kolkata on Tuesday morning, targeting multiple locations including Kasba and Alipore. The raids are part of an investigation into alleged embezzlement involving a prominent private English medium school -- South Point -- in the city.
According to ED sources, it is alleged that crores of rupees were transferred from the school's account to a private institution, with the school's administrator reportedly implicated in the scheme.
The central agency's operations began at around 6:30 am, with a team raiding the residence of Sushil Kumar Dagar, former president of South Point Management Society, located at 88/1 Nalini Ranjan Avenue, B Block, New Alipore.
Simultaneously, another ED team conducted a raid at the house of KK Malavya in the Kayastha locality of Kasba.
The primary complainant in the case, Krishna Damani, had previously been arrested by Kolkata Police, which had also investigated the allegations of corruption at South Point.
